The simple answer to the question is you can visit Santorini when it is most convenient to you, but keep in mind that most hotels are closed off-season and it’s hard to find suitable accommodation.

But if you want the best time to visit Santorini while most hotels and resorts are open, Septemeber is one of the best months. The weather is cooler than in the summer, but you can still enjoy the beach. September is also one of the months recommended for sightseeing, allowing you to hike without fearing the torrid sun (with weather averages around 25°C).

According to Santorini Dave, Santorini sightseeing weather is best from April to June and September to November, but October will be cooler and rainy, while in November, accommodation is hard to find. Most hotels also begin to close in the middle of October, or the beginning of November and they will not open until April-May. If you travel on a budget, while cooler, October is a good month as prices for accommodation drop. We have excellent offers for October at Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa. You can reserve your room already, as special offers tend to sell fast.

Santo Maris

Since it is generally agreed that September is the best time to visit Santorini, here are some fun things to do on the island. September is still high season for the island so you can enjoy all the activities customary in the summer: watch the sunset away from the crowds from your suite’s private veranda overlooking the dazzling Aegean Sea at Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa. Keep in mind that our hotel does not offer views of the caldera, but the sunsets are still magical when the skies and the waters turn fiery red, orange, and yellow.

Most of the couples enjoy the serenity of the place when “the sky turns amber-yellow-and-red, and the sea below is a reverie of violet waves with silver-glossy whipped-cream crowns.” But if you want to experience the sunset like the tourist crowds, you can walk down the hotel’s private path to reach the center of Oia and to join other visitors in the quest for the perfect spot to watch the skies and the caldera.
