Our restaurant, Alios Ilios is designed for romance and serenity too. Here, you can taste fine Greek cuisine and quality wines, and admire the dazzling Aegean Sea glittering in gold and murex under the honey-tones of the Santorini sunset. Besides Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa, there are other great spots to admire the sunset in Santorini.

Sunset Serenade

Sunset Serenade is busy and crowded, full of camera-toting tourists ready to snap a million shots of the celestial spectacle. Albeit packed, this spot is spectacular. As the sun dips into the sea, you get to see the mesmerizing colorful glow of the light on the whitewashed cliff-houses of Oia. Many of the stunning sunset pictures of Santorini are captured from this spot.

The Walls of the Ruins of the Kastro in Oia

Oia’s “Kastro” is another favorite spot for sunset gazers. You’ll see many tourists climbing up the walls to get a high-vantage to observe the phenomenon. People start their pilgrimage to this place sometimes two hours before the sunset to make sure they find a place to sit down in comfort.

Atlantis Books in Oia

This is a lovely spot for bookworms, of course. The shop organizes regular sunset reading sessions and other events on their rooftop terrace. It’s a different kind of magic to listen to a story when the sun plays Picasso in the sky.

Finikia Village

Finikia is small and unassuming, with charming traditional Cycladic homes, beautiful churches, narrow streets, and fewer tourists than Oia. It is a beautiful destination to watch the sunset far from the crowds. Head up to Kyra Panagia for the best vantage point or visit Domaine Sigalas to sip Assyrtiko while gazing at the sunset.

Imerovigli, the “balcony of the caldera,” is impossibly beautiful at sunset. It rules at the highest point of the caldera and has the stuff of postcard blues, especially when the sun sets into the Aegean Sea. You will experience a true “wow” moment when you go here to see the show put up in the sky by the sun as the twilight brings the night near.

The lighthouse of Akrotiri is another romantic spot at sundown. Erected in 1892 by a French company, this landmark is one of the most beautiful of its kind you will see in this part of the world. Sunset-watching doesn’t get better than this.

Of course, the entire island has fairylike attributes under the sunset. Wherever you are on Santorini before nightfall, you will feel inspired to capture the moment every time.
